Donald Trump chooses Secretary of Housing and Urban Development

President-elect Donald Trump has offered Dr. Ben Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, the position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

Mr. Carson would be the first African-American member of Mr. Trump’s cabinet and a familiar face to millions of Americans after a Republican primary campaign in which he briefly soared to the top of the polls.
Trump tweeted about Carson, saying he was “seriously considering” him for the post and praising him as “a greatly talented person who loves people!”
The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development oversees federal public housing programs and helps formulate policy on homelessness and housing discrimination.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development says its mission is “to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable housing for all.”/.
