Ho Chi Minh city ready for Overseas Vietnamese Conference 2016

The Overseas Vietnamese Conference 2016 is taking place on November 11th – 14th in the Southern hub Ho Chi Minh city.

With the theme “Overseas Vietnamese join hands to build Ho Chi Minh city to develop rapidly, sustainably and with international integration”, the conference will gather over 500 participants who are overseas professionals, intellectuals, and businessmen from 36 countries and territories worldwide.

The Ho Chi Minh city Committee for Overseas Vietnamese is one of the units involved in organizing the conference.

Mr. Tran Hoa Phuong, Standing Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said that the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee have collaborated in organizing the conference most effectively.

Expatriates can comment and make suggestions for the city about construction, sustainable development and international integration so that the city is really the leader of the country and makes the city in particular and the country in general reach a new steps.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, a representative of the Vietnamese Businessmen Association in the US, said that many Vietnamese businessmen and intellectuals in the US will attend this important conference.

“We thank the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee for creating a playground for overseas Vietnamese to exchange. The issue is when we will return to invest; and I think every overseas Vietnamese wants to invest in the homeland. The path to breakthrough development is to attract investment, investment efficiency, select right fields to attract investment and strong investors, attract large projects, advanced technologies to create economic breakthrough.”

During the conference, the participants will participate in four thematic discussions, including: overseas Vietnamese with issues of sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh city; overseas Vietnamese with human resources development of Ho Chi Minh city; overseas Vietnamese with science – technology development, knowledge-based economy of Ho Chi Minh City; and overseas Vietnamese participating in investment and development of trade and services of Ho Chi Minh City.

Particularly, a program “Prime Minister meets outstanding overseas Vietnamese experts, intellectuals and businessmen” will be organized on November 12th./.
