Vietnam, China boost cooperation in peacekeeping operations

PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, received the visiting Chinese peacekeeping experts led by Senior Colonel Nanning, Deputy Chief of the Peacekeeping Office of the Chinese Ministry of Defense.

At the reception, General Tuan, who is also the Deputy Head of theVietnam Ministry of National Defense’s Steering Committee for UN peacekeeping operations, appreciated the efforts of the VietnamPeacekeeping Center and the Peacekeeping Office of the Chinese Ministry of Defense in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding on UN peacekeeping operationssigned in April last year.
Tuan stressed that Vietnam has just joined UN peacekeeping operations; therefore, the country is still lack of relavant experiences and wishes to learn more experience in organizing and building forces as well as investing in equipment from other countries. He believed that cooperation in the field with China would significantly contribute to the development of Vietnam-China cooperation in other fields.
