Woman gives birth on street in northern Vietnam

With the help of local people, a woman gave birth successfully on the street when her labor came amid a motorbike ride in northern Vietnam on Friday.

Despite her pregnancy, Nguyen Thi Thanh Loan had decided to cover the 190 km route from Lao Cai Province to her home province of Phu Tho with motorbike on her own.

Loan was riding past a town in the northern province of Yen Bai when she suddenly went into labor and had to stop by the street.

Seeing the woman in need, many locals and passers-by rushed to help. They quickly called for emergency and local medical staffers were dispatched to the scene, helping the pregnant woman bring the baby into the world.

Loan successfully gave birth to a child right on the street. Shortly after, both the mother and child were rushed to the nearest hospital.

The kind locals and passers-by not only bought warm clothes for the mother and the newborn, but also donated some money to them.

After some basic check-ups, both Loan and her child were considered in good health and were discharged from the hospital the same day.

A video capturing the scene went viral on the Internet the same day, attracting positive comments for the kindness of people in Yen Bai.
